Aim of the conference, on the occasion of the end of the 5 year-research project on border deaths of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (http://www.borderdeaths.org), is to enable researchers, policymakers and NGOs from across the world to engage in a dialogue. They will confront each other with their findings, experiences and insights about the global issue of border deaths. Where findings, experiences and insights converge, this is something to take due notice of. Where these diverge, the precise points of divergence have to be identified: Do we work with different facts; with different assumptions on causal relations; with different assumptions about what is politically feasible? etc. The commonalities and divergences that emerge during the conference will be laid down in a final document.
